The flooding in Kampung Bingkor Lama.
KENINGAU (Feb 1): Complaints of flooding and storm-related damage in several villages within the Bingkor state constituency prompted an immediate on-the-ground response by officers from the Community Development Leaders Unit (UPPM) and the People’s Representative Office.
UPPM officers George Daire and Alexsius Tingadon visited affected areas in Kampung Tangkongan and Kampung Bingkor Lama on Thursday morning to assess the situation and initiate follow-up action.
In Kampung Tangkongan, three houses were reported to have been flooded after continuous rainfall.
Preliminary findings indicated that a pipe crossing the culvert opening caused floating debris to become trapped, blocking the drainage structure and disrupting water flow, which led to overflow into nearby residential areas.
Following the site inspection, it was decided that a report would be submitted to the Water Department for further action.

Additionally, the Kampung Tangkongan Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) will submit a written application to the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) to carry out cleaning works on the stream as a preventive measure.

In a subsequent visit within the same village, the officers assessed damage to the residence of Johit Japah, which was struck by a dead durian tree following strong winds on the afternoon of Jan 28, 2026.
Damage identified included sections of the roof and broken roof beams.
