KUCHING (Jan 24): The inclusion of senior representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning Unit (EPU), and Public Service Department (JPA) into the Technical Committee under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 Implementation Action Council (MTPMA63) will be discussed in detail in an upcoming committee meeting, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof.
He said the meeting, to be chaired by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, would refer the proposal to the Technical Committee before submitting it to the highest level of Consultative Council.
“The meeting will be held as soon as possible,” Fadillah told reporters after officiating the Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia, National Awards Ceremony at a hotel here.
Earlier, Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, had called for a revamp of the Technical Committee to resolve long-standing healthcare challenges and reduce bureaucratic delays.
“Matters at the state assembly level still need to be brought to Parliament for agreement. That does not require a two-thirds majority and therefore is not a major challenge.
“What is challenging is if we want to secure more than 25 per cent of parliamentary seats, as that would require a two-thirds majority,” said Fadillah.
Meanwhile, the Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia awards saw five enterprises crowned as national winners: Earthlings Coffee Workshop Sdn Bhd, Lariss Quna Enterprise, Lettuboost Enterprise, Rebooz Technology Sdn Bhd, and WAIG Consultancy Sdn Bhd.
“Entrepreneurs today are problem-solvers, job creators, and nation-builders. Their ideas rooted in creativity and innovation, are shaping solutions that fuel economic growth, uplift communities, and drive social progress,” Fadillah said.
The programme, organised by Shell Malaysia, is in collaboration with the Sarawak government through Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas).
Also present were State Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Deputy Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh, who is also Tegas chairman; State Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Deputy Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan; Telang Usan assemblyman and Sarawak Tourism Board chairman, Dato Dennis Ngau; and Shell Malaysia country chair and Upstream Malaysia senior vice president Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman.
