KUCHING (Jan 8): Sarawak Skills has achieved outstanding results in the ‘Single Rating for TVET Programmes 2025’ conducted by the Department of Skills Development (JPK), marking a significant milestone in its commitment to excellence in Technical and Vocation Education and Training (TVET).
Ten of its programmes were awarded five-star ratings, and a further 20 programmes received four-star ratings in the national assessment.
Two of its programmes achieved three-star ratings, which reflected strong overall performance across its diverse training portfolio.
Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri said these achievements reflected the organisation’s collective commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
“This achievement is the result of the unwavering dedication, discipline, and teamwork demonstrated by our staff across all Sarawak Skills branches.
“The five-star ratings attained by 10 of our programmes affirm that our training delivery, governance, and industry alignment meet the highest national benchmarks set by JPK,” he said in a statement.
The comprehensive evaluation was carried out throughout last year by appointed JPK assessment panels, and involved rigorous reviews of programme design, curriculum relevance, training delivery, facilities, industry engagement, governance, quality assurance mechanisms and graduate employability.
“During the assessment process, the Sarawak Skills Kuching branch demonstrated a high level of professionalism, coordination and operational efficiency.
“The assessment panels commended the institution’s well-structured documentation, systematic information management, and effective workflow, which contributed positively to the overall outcome,” he said.
Hallman added the results were not only recognition, but motivation for Sarawak Skills to further enhance its TVET ecosystem.
“This recognition is both an honour and a responsibility. Sarawak Skills remains committed to continuously strengthening programme relevance, improving training quality and ensuring our graduates are equipped with industry-ready skills that support workforce development and the economic aspirations of Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole.”
Meanwhile, Sarawak Skills has also been accredited by JPK as a Chief Administrator, making it the first home-grown, government-aligned organisation in Borneo to receive the recognition.
The accreditation was awarded in recognition of Sarawak Skills’ strong institutional presence, with seven learning centres established across Sarawak, demonstrating its capability to manage, coordinate and support multiple training institutions effectively.
In its role as Chief Administrator, Sarawak Skills Kuching branch serves as the central governing body overseeing its accredited branch centres, including ensuring standardisation, quality assurance and alignment of TVET programmes across all institutions under its purview.
The milestone further reinforces Sarawak Skills’ position as a leading TVET institution dedicated to producing competent, skilled and future-ready talent in line with national and state development priorities.
