Search and rescue operation launched at Kg Gita Lama after man falls from bridge

KUCHING (Oct 31): A search-and-rescue (SAR) operation has been deployed after a man is believed to have fallen from Sungai Maung bridge in Kampung Gita Lama this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said they received a report on the incident at 8.52am.

A spokesperson said personnel from the Petra Jaya fire station were deployed and arrived at the scene at 8.53am.

“The Operation Commander reported that a male victim, aged 34 years, had jumped from the Sungai Maong bridge in Kampung Gita Lama.

“The SAR operation has been mobilised,” said the spokesperson in a statement.
