KUCHING, 17 Oct: HASiL expands its land-based approach throughout HASiL 2026 to facilitate community affairs and promote voluntary compliance.
HASiL Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin, said the programme, which runs from October 1 to 31, will allow people to access information and services directly in public locations including shopping malls, community areas, schools and higher education institutions.
He said the approach was important to strengthen HASiL's relationship with the community as well as enhance people's comfort when dealing with the agency.
"Through this program, we went out on the field to meet with taxpayers and give explanations in public places, not just in offices. I believe HASiL Sarawak has also been planning various programs to reach out to the community throughout this month", he said.
He said this while addressing the HASiL Appreciation Council with Sarawak State Media here, last night.
On the theme of Voluntary Report, Shared Responsibility, Month HASiL 2026 also featured Special Programme of Voluntary Recognition (PKPS) e-Invois and Duti Setem PPPs, in addition to the Income Tax Voluntary Recognition Campaign which allows recognition to be made prior to audits or investigations, subject to set conditions.
HASiL also conducted the HASiL Literacy Expedition across the country throughout October through a presentation, guidance and live service sessions at community-focused sites.
Meanwhile, Abu Tariq said the media played an important role in conveying information about government initiatives to the public.
He said close cooperation between HASiL and the media can help ensure that information is clearly communicated to the public.
"I believe a good relationship between HASiL and the media is very important because the responsibility to disseminate information to the people is huge, including helping ensure that national tax revenues are at their proper level", he said.
