KUCHING, April 20: Sarawak electricity consumers will only see the 25 per cent discount for April 2026 electricity usage reflected in their June 2026 bills, as part of the implementation details following the cost-of-living relief measure announced by the Premier of Sarawak.
Sarawak Energy Berhad clarified that while the discount applies to domestic electricity consumption from April to December 2026, the adjustment for April usage will not appear in the April billing cycle, but will instead be incorporated into the June 2026 bill.
“The discount covers electricity consumption from April to December 2026 and will be reflected in each month’s electricity bill. It will be applied automatically, with no registration or application required.
“However, for the April 2026 bill, the discount will only be reflected in the June 2026 bill,” it said in a statement.
The clarification comes in relation to the earlier announcement by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on April 16, on the 25 per cent electricity bill discount initiative aimed at easing household financial burdens.
The discount is applied automatically to all domestic tariff customers, with no registration or application required, and is expected to benefit about 714,000 households across Sarawak.
For customers receiving estimated bills, Sarawak Energy advised that accurate meter readings are important to ensure the discount is properly applied based on actual consumption.
Supporting documents such as photographs of bills and current meter readings may be submitted via email at [email protected], through the CARINA virtual agent, or via the SEB Cares mobile application under the “Make a Report” function.
Once verified, billing adjustments will be made accordingly to reflect actual usage and ensure eligible customers receive the correct discount.
Sarawak Energy said further updates on billing implementation will be communicated through its official channels and urged customers to rely only on verified sources to avoid misinformation.
For enquiries, customers may contact Sarawak Energy’s 24/7 Customer Care Centre at 1300-88-3111, interact with CARINA, or email [email protected]. — DayakDaily
