60-year-old man arrested in connection with theft in Miri

MIRI (Feb 4): A 60-year-old local man was arrested by police on Monday in connection with the theft of two pouch bags from a vehicle parts shop at Jalan Permaisuri here, resulting in losses estimated at RM1,200.

Miri District Police said the suspect was arrested in front of a shop at Jalan Cina here at around 5.40pm.

“The suspect is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft,” it said in a statement.

Police advised members of the public to remain vigilant and to step up security measures, particularly around shop premises.

They also urged shop owners to install closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in open areas and to report any suspicious activities to the police to help prevent criminal incidents.
