Astana Negeri upgrading works to be completed before Raya

KUCHING (Feb 5): The Astana Negeri Sarawak upgrading project is expected to be fully completed ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said in a Facebook post that the project has reached 70 per cent completion and is progressing according to schedule.

A site visit was conducted on Wednesday by his senior private secretary Dato Sri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie to review the project’s progress.

The visit included senior officers from the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak (MIPD), as well as the project’s architect, engineers, contractors, and senior officials from the Office of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak.

During the visit, Syed Hamzah was briefed on the latest status of the upgrading works, including the scope of work, construction progress, and technical and safety aspects.

Discussions were also held to ensure all components of the project are executed according to the agreed specifications, standards, and timeline.

The visit aimed to ensure the smooth execution of the project and to assess the readiness of the implementation team to complete the upgrading works in line with the required quality standards.
