KUCHING, April 14: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has handed over the official note for the implementation of the Rural Water Supply Project (BALB) from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) to Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg.
In an official social media post, the Sarawak Premier’s Office said the handover took place during a courtesy visit at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here today.
The one-on-one meeting, it added, was held for the purpose of handing over the official note on the implementation of the BALB project from KKDW to the Sarawak government, marking an important step in strengthening efforts to provide basic amenities to the people of Sarawak, particularly in rural and interior areas.
Ahmad Zahid, who also serves as Minister of Rural and Regional Development, led the KKDW delegation alongside Deputy Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang and Secretary-General Datuk Muhd Khair Razman Mohamed Annuar.
Earlier, Ahmad Zahid chaired a coordination meeting with the Sarawak government to streamline and strengthen the implementation of the BALB projects, ensuring more effective execution and faster delivery of clean water supply.
At the meeting, he announced that 80 rural water supply projects worth RM3.47 billion under the programme would be handed over to the Sarawak government through the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) to expedite implementation.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki. — DayakDaily
