Eight men arrested in Bau drug raids

KUCHING (Jan 4): Bau police arrested eight men aged between 20 and 34 during a series of inspections carried out in several villages in Bau early on Sunday morning.

Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the inspections were conducted at Kampung Peninjau Baru, Kampung Peninjau Lama, Kampung Kopit and Kampung Plaman Sega.

“As a result of the inspections, eight men aged between 20 and 34 were arrested for alleged drug abuse.

“Three of them were arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing crystal granules believed to be syabu,” he said in a statement on Sunday evening.

He added that as all the suspects tested positive for drugs, they were also arrested under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
