ADVERTISE HERE

The fire gutted one of the plants at the centre.
KUCHING (Jan 13): A fire at the Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park (KIWMP) along Jalan Mambong here on Tueday afternoon prompted the deployment of a Hazardous Material (Hazmat) team after several chemicals were detected near one of the plants.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the fire started from outside the plant before spreading to its interior.
“There were three chemicals identified near the plant; nitric acid, propionic acid and ammonium sulfate.
“The Hazmat team has been deployed to the scene to provide their expertise.
“At around 6.40pm, the fire was under control and overhaul works were being carried out,” Bomba said in a statement.
The fire broke out at the plant at around 2.28pm, where teams from Siburan, Kota Sentosa and Tabuan Jaya fire stations were deployed to the scene.
Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd in a statement said the fire has since been brought under control and posed no further risk of spreading, with the cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
