KUCHING (Feb 6): The Jalan Masjid Health Clinic (KK) has extended its operating hours as part of a six-month trial aimed at easing congestion at the Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) Emergency Department Green Zone.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian said since Monday (Feb 2), the clinic, which previously operated from 8am to 5pm on weekdays, is now open until 9pm, while on Saturdays it is open from 9am to 1pm.
“This is to decongest the Green Zone of the Emergency Department of Sarawak General Hospital. KK Jalan Masjid is the only clinic in Sarawak with such expanded operational hours, and we thank the Ministry of Health Malaysia for this innovative six-month trial,” he said in a Facebook post.
Dr Sim pointed out that KK Jalan Masjid is among the oldest health clinics in Kuching and is classified as a Type 2 clinic equipped with comprehensive medical facilities.
He added that two medical officers are on duty during the extended hours, supported by nurses, pharmacists, and medical assistants.
The clinic utilises a cloud-based clinic management system and is the first health clinic to introduce online payment, with consultation charges set at RM1.
Dr Sim urged members of the public with non-serious medical conditions to seek treatment at KK Jalan Masjid during the extended hours to help reduce patient load at SGH’s Emergency Department.
