KUCHING, Apr 11: The DBKU International X-Games 2026 has expanded this year with the addition of water-based competitions such as jet ski racing alongside BMX, skateboarding and rollerblading events at Kuching Waterfront.
Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the introduction of water-based events allows organisers to take advantage of the waterfront setting while adding a new dimension to the games.
“The programme also provides a platform for local athletes to compete alongside participants from countries including Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
“Events such as the X-Games help position Sarawak as a destination for international sporting events while supporting the growth of sports tourism in the state,” he said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the DBKU International X-Games 2026 held at the Kuching Waterfront today.
The five-day event, held from April 8 to 12, is organised in collaboration with the Canroll Pro Urban Sports Festival.
About 200 athletes took part in the festival, competing across multiple disciplines throughout the event period. — DayakDaily
