KUCHING, Feb 4: Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing has stressed that the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme should remain apolitical, as it is open to foreign participants from all over the world.

In a TVS news report, he clarified that the programme is not limited to specific countries such as China and Taiwan but provides opportunities for any eligible applicant.

“Do not politicise this issue. The programme is open to all nationals.

“The ministry will continue promoting it in other countries, including in the Middle East, where participation remains low,” he informed the the Dewan Rakyat today.

Tiong was responding to a question from Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (Perikatan Nasional–Dungun) on the latest statistics regarding houses sold to foreign participants through MM2H from 2023 to 2025, broken down by country of origin and citizenship acquisition.

He explained that MM2H, also known as MyPR, is a long-term social visit pass that allows foreigners to stay in Malaysia for five to 20 years, with multiple-entry visa privileges.

The programme offers four main categories, namely Platinum, Gold, and Silver, each valid for up to five years and renewable until the end of their eligibility.

“As of Dec 31, 2025, 744 MM2H participants have purchased homes under the programme, while 2,637 others are still in the process, including finalising sale agreements and identifying suitable residences,” he said.

According to official records, the highest number of property purchases came from participants from China (304 units), followed by Taiwan (91), Singapore (63), the United States (41), the United Kingdom (40), Hong Kong (34), Australia (29), Bangladesh (19), South Korea (15), Indonesia (14), Japan (14), and other countries.

Tiong emphasised that the government is committed to ensuring the MM2H programme continues to contribute to Malaysia’s economy without affecting the interests of local citizens. The initiative aims to attract investment, promote tourism growth, and create broader economic opportunities for the nation. — DayakDaily
