KUCHING, April 11: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has extended its 50 per cent discount on overdue parking compounds until June this year, giving the public additional time to settle outstanding fines before enforcement action is taken.
MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the extension has received approval and is intended to encourage early settlement of accumulated parking penalties.
He urged the public to take advantage of the discount period, noting that it applies to older, unpaid parking compounds under MBKS jurisdiction.
“This is an opportunity for the public to settle their overdue compounds. The discount period has been extended until June,” he announced during his ShallWeeTalk live session today.
However, he warned that once the extension period ends, MBKS will proceed with legal enforcement measures to recover outstanding payments.
He reminded the public that the compounds represent accumulated debts and encouraged residents to resolve them promptly while the 50 per cent discount is still available.
“This is the final extension. After June, enforcement action will follow,” he added. — DayakDaily
