KUCHING, June 13: Registration for the annual Kuching’s Got Talent 2026 competition, one of the highlights of the upcoming Kuching Food Festival (KFF), is now open and will run until June 23 at 4.30pm.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng encouraged aspiring performers from across Sarawak to seize the opportunity to showcase their abilities through the popular talent competition, which forms part of a series of programmes and activities lined up for this year’s KFF.
“The Kuching’s Got Talent 2026 is now open for applications and registration, and we hope everyone will participate and showcase their talents,” he said during his ShallWeeTalk live session today.
Wee noted that this year’s Kuching Food Festival will commence on July 22, with a range of programmes scheduled throughout the festival period, including the annual talent competition.
He said auditions for the Cultural and Classical Dance category, covering ethnic, ballet and ballroom dances, as well as the Contemporary and Urban Dance category, featuring hip hop, K-pop, jazz, lyrical and freestyle performances, will be held on July 4 at the MBKS Auditorium.
Meanwhile, auditions for the singing category will take place on July 5 at the same venue. The singing competition will be divided into three categories: Junior (six to 12 years old), Youth (13 to 18 years old), and Open (19 years old and above).
“The semi-finals will be held on Aug 15, while the grand final will take place on Sunday night, Aug 16, which is also the final night of the Kuching festival,” he said.
The semi-finals for all categories will be staged at the MBKS Theatre on Aug 15, followed by the grand final on Aug 16.
Wee called on the public to support and encourage talented individuals to participate in the competition, saying it provides a platform for performers to demonstrate their abilities and gain recognition.
“We encourage everyone to support and motivate talented individuals to come forward and participate in this competition, so that everyone can see that Kuching has talent, Sarawak has talent, and there are many talented people here,” he said.
All registration forms must reach MBKS Information Counter by June 23 before 4.30pm.
