Miri motorist who drove against traffic issued summons

MIRI (Jan 7): Traffic police here have issued a summons to a motorist caught driving against the flow of traffic on Jalan Kubu on Tuesday.

A source said a member of the public filed a police report against the motorist.

The complainant also submitted dashcam footage from his vehicle showing a Toyota Vios travelling against traffic on Jalan Kubu.

It is understood that the footage clearly showed the driver moving against the traffic flow, posing a danger to other road users and risking a traffic accident.

The suspect later presented himself at the Miri Traffic police office to assist with the investigation.

He later admitted to the offence, claiming that he had committed the offence unintentionally.

The man was found to have committed an offence under Section 79(2)(q) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for failing to comply with traffic directions.
