KUCHING, Apr 18: The Sarawak Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) Sibu Division’s ‘Majlis Berlanggar Meja Aidilfitri’ gathering is not only a festive celebration, but also an important platform to strengthen ties and foster unity among civil servants from various departments in Sarawak.
Dudong assemblyman Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, who attended the event in Sibu on Friday (Apr 17), expressed appreciation for the invitation as it allowed him to interact and engage with fellow civil servants.
“My highest appreciation goes to all civil servants for their dedication and continued sacrifices in ensuring the best possible delivery of services to the community.
“It is this commitment that forms the foundation for driving development and societal wellbeing,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Tiong, who is also Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture and Bintulu MP, also expressed support to ongoing efforts to enhance welfare and cultivate a spirit of togetherness through the organisation of various activities that benefit members of the public service.
“Moving forward, we must continue to work hand in hand, strengthen cooperation, and create broader channels of communication so that the voices of the people are always heard.
“With an inclusive approach and continuous improvements, we can enhance the quality of public service for the shared wellbeing of all,” he said.
‘Berlanggar meja’, or ‘clashing of tables’, is a communal feast where each household prepares its own dishes, allowing guests to move from table to table to sample a variety of foods, similar to a potluck. — DayakDaily
