KOTA SAMARAHAN (Jan 29): The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has issued a stern warning against illegal dumping following repeated public complaints about rubbish being discarded along Jalan Sarawak Turf Club.

In a statement, MPKS said its enforcement team conducted monitoring at the affected area after receiving the complaints and immediately instructed clean-up works to be carried out to ensure the surroundings remain safe and clean for public use.

The council expressed disappointment over the irresponsible actions of certain individuals.

“We are deeply concerned that some members of the public continue to dispose of waste illegally without regard for environmental cleanliness or the well-being of the community,” the spokesperson said.

MPKS stressed that firm action would be taken against offenders under the relevant municipal by-laws.

Those found guilty of illegal dumping may face compound fines or prosecution in accordance with the law.

The council also called on the public to play an active role in maintaining cleanliness in the area.

“We urge members of the public to report any illegal dumping activities so that immediate action can be taken for the benefit of the community,” MPKS added.
