KUCHING, Oct 14: Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee has called for the RM13 million Phase Two of the Tatau–Kuala Tatau road project to be expedited, citing its importance in improving connectivity and access to essential services for local communities.
Speaking during the debate on the Sarawak Budget 2027 at the State Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today, he said the road project was important in connecting residents of Kuala Tatau with Tatau town and improving access to essential services.
“I hope the road can be improved to make it easier for residents to travel and for emergency services, such as ambulances and fire and rescue teams, to reach them.
“It would also help patients who need to be taken to Tatau Hospital,” he said.
Iskandar also pointed to the benefits for local farmers, who would be able to transport their agricultural produce to market more quickly once the road infrastructure was improved.
He thanked the government for the village road projects already approved in Kuala Tatau, saying the improvements had made travel more convenient for residents and helped farmers bring their produce to market.
However, he urged the State government to clarify the status of Phase Two and expedite its implementation to ensure communities could benefit from better connectivity. —DayakDaily
