GEDONG, April 15: The RM67.1 million Lubok Teranggas–Gedong road project, which involves the construction of a 6.87-kilometre new route, is progressing well and is expected to become a key catalyst for improved mobility and rural socio-economic development in the area.

In addition, the project includes the construction of two R5-standard bridges measuring 30 metres and 180 metres respectively, along with drainage works, installation of road facilities, and soil stabilisation works to ensure long-term durability and safety of the infrastructure.

Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, conducted a site visit on Tuesday (April 14) to inspect the project’s progress together with implementing agencies, ensuring smooth implementation in accordance with schedule and specifications.

The project reflects the Sarawak government’s continued commitment to strengthening its inclusive development agenda, particularly in bridging the development gap between urban and rural areas.

Once completed, the road is expected to significantly improve accessibility for local residents to economic centres, as well as education, healthcare, and public services in a more efficient and systematic manner.

To date, the project is reported to be progressing smoothly without critical issues, supported by close coordination between implementing agencies and contractors, ensuring optimal execution quality.

The visit also underscored the State government’s transparent, efficient, and integrity-driven governance approach in delivering development projects that directly benefit the people.

Also present were Samarahan Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, IRSDA Samarahan special administrative officer Anuar Da’an, Public Works Department (JKR) Samarahan Division engineer Ts Mahathir Jokeni, and other officials. — DayakDaily
