KUCHING, June 15: A delegation from Sarawak, led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, is seeking to engage with Hungarian and Austrian government agencies, city authorities, planning institutions, and industry organisations in preparation for the Limbang Lawas Local Plan 2035 and the broader development of the Northern Growth Corridor.
According to Awang Tengah, the delegation’s official study mission is to exchange knowledge and best practices in areas such as smart city planning, border economic development, logistics connectivity, renewable energy, and sustainable urban development.
Speaking at a gathering with the Sarawakian community in Hungary hosted by the Embassy of Malaysia in Budapest, he said that collaboration and knowledge-sharing are essential to building innovative solutions and creating sustainable growth for future generations.
He also expressed appreciation to the Embassy of Malaysia in Budapest for its support in facilitating the delegation’s programme and engagements throughout the mission.
Meanwhile, he lauded contributions made by Sarawakians who are living, studying, and working abroad in supporting Sarawak’s future development through their knowledge, expertise, and international exposure.
Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak, said that the State government values the contributions of Sarawakians overseas and hopes to strengthen engagement with them as the State continues its development agenda.
“As Sarawak moves forward, we look forward to closer engagement with Sarawakians around the world. Your knowledge, experience, and international exposure can make valuable contributions to our development journey,” he said.
He said Sarawak is gaining increasing international recognition through its efforts in renewable energy, the hydrogen economy, sustainable development, and economic transformation under the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), noting that Sarawakians overseas are helping to strengthen the state’s reputation through their achievements and contributions in their respective fields.
“Each of you is a proud representative of Sarawak. Through your achievements and contributions, you help strengthen Sarawak’s reputation abroad,” he said.
At the same time, he commended the Sarawakian community in Hungary for maintaining a strong spirit of togetherness and supporting fellow Sarawakians who are newly arriving to study or work in the country. — DayakDaily
