Sarawak bowling trio win three events at Asean Para Games

KUCHING (Jan 27): Marcos Chang Hao Hong and Wong Kee Soon bagged Malaysia’s sixth gold medal of the 13th Asean Para Games (APG) Thailand at Blu-O Ryhthm and Bowl Espanade Ratchada on Sunday.

The pair from Sarawak led from start to finish with lines of 390, 458, 400, 467, 387 and 404 for a total of 2,506 pins to make it a one-two finish for Malaysia in the TPB9+TPB9 Doubles.

Nadia Syafika Abd Rahman and Mohd Azrin Rahman picked up the silver medal with 2,469 pins while Loo Chee Wai and Low Chang Hong of Singapore settled for the bronze medal with 2,279 pins.

At the end of the tenpin bowling competition, Malaysia emerged as the overall champion in the sport with six gold, seven silver and one bronze medals.

Singapore finished second overall (2-1-2) followed by Indonesia and Philippines (2-0-1 each), Thailand (1-4-6) and Brunei (1-1-1).

Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) elite coach Jerusha Chan Poi Yin was proud of the Sarawakian trio of Abang Yahya Abang Azhar, Marcos Chang and Wong Kee Soon.

“They delivered an excellent performance, contributing 3 Gold and 1 Silver medal to Team Malaysia’s overall medal tally.

“Their achievements reflect their commitment, discipline and consistency in preparation and mental resilience throughout the competition,” she told The Borneo Post.

Abg Yahya bagged two gold in Men’s Singles (TPB4) and Men’s Doubles (TPB4) with Muhammad Razif Iskandar Abdul Muiz.

The TPB9 Mixed Doubles pair, Marcos Chang Hao Hong and Wong Kee Soon, secured another gold, while Marcos also added a silver medal in Men’s Singles.
