Sibu Municipal Council rolls out e-coupons, season passes under smart parking system from July 1

KUCHING, June 19: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) will implement its SMC Cares App Smart Parking System effective July 1.

In a post made on its Facebook page on Thursday (June 18), the new features that will be available through the SMC Cares App will include the following:

E-Coupon: Valid for parking at all parking bays within SMC jurisdiction from 8am to 5pm.
Street Season Pass (CBD Zone): Valid for parking at all parking bays within SMC jurisdiction at RM80 per month, excluding tax.
Street Season Pass (Non-CBD Zone): Valid only at designated non-CBD parking areas at RM40 per month, excluding tax.
Conversion of physical parking coupons to app credit: Redemption can be made at the Parking Section, SMC Multi-Storey Car Park, Jalan Wong Nai Siong, from July 1 to Dec 31, 2026.

At the same time, the council announced several important regulations, which are the following:

Motorists who remain inside their vehicles while parked in designated parking bays are deemed to be occupying the parking space and are subject to parking charges.
A RM10 compound notice issued may be treated as valid for the entire day. Motorists are advised not to remove the notice and ensure it remains clearly displayed on the vehicle windscreen for inspection purposes.
