Six Sibu archers vying for coveted Sukma spots

SIBU (Jan 29): Six archers representing Sibu Archery Association (Pemasa Sibu) have made it to the long list in preparation for Malaysia Games (Sukma) XX11 Selangor from Aug 15 to 24.

They are Enoch Ting Kee Heng, Isaac Ting Ann Zhe and Melvin Tieh (Men’s recurve); Konny Wong Su Yee and Sabrina Chin (Women’s Recurve) and Eason Lau Hui Wan (Men’s compound).

Pemasa Sibu head coach Eric Tiong said the players were shortlisted  based on their good performances at the recent archery competition held in Kuching.

“Enoch, Konny and Sabrina will train in Sibu while Isaac, Melvin and Eason will continue to train in Kuching,” he added.

He is expecting all of them to be working hard to make the short list which is due in mid-June. Only four archers from each category will earn the ticket to Sukma Selangor.

Meanwhile, Pemasa Sibu is inviting those interested to train at the RH archery field at Jalan Upper Lanang. The Pemasa Sibu centre has been sanctioned as a training centre by the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) since 2018.
