KUCHING, 23 Sept: Career Mandating System (SPEAK): Talent Bridge 2030 Kuching series has become an important platform in strengthening the links between educational institutions, industry sector and students to ensure that Sarawak's talent development is aligned with future economic needs.

Sarawak's Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that current career guidance should no longer be focused solely on listing courses, but should instead provide clear disclosure about career pathways, skills required and job opportunities available.

He believes that this approach is important to help young people prepare better for employment.

"This is not just a figure, but it reflects our commitment to prepare the future for Sarawak's youth so that they have opportunities to build careers in this state", he said as he was addressing the closing ceremony of the programme, here today.

Commenting further, Roland said that SPEAK will help empower school counselors and students with more practical career information based on current industry developments.

"We need to strengthen bridges between schools, industry and students to ensure they have access to the right opportunities", he said.

SPEAK Programme: Talent Bridge 2030 Kuching Series is a continuation of the series of tours that have been previously undertaken in Miri, Sibu and Sri Aman.

Roland added, the message carried in each series is the same that today's career guidance needs to go beyond traditional approaches by providing clearer guidance on educational pathways, skills and job opportunities for students. - TVS
