KUCHING (Jan 24): The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bau branch continues to advance its grassroots outreach efforts through its monthly assistance programme.
Recently, a team led by branch chairman Chong Yie Loong conducted a visit to the Buso area to engage with vulnerable individuals, gaining first-hand insight into their living conditions and providing practical assistance and emotional support.
“The beneficiary of the visit was a resident living alone in a forested area, barely under basic conditions, with limited access to social support and is facing considerable hardship.
“The situation was further compounded by the recent loss of the resident’s spouse, resulting in emotional distress and increased daily living challenges,” said the branch in a statement on Friday.
SUPP Bau also said that follow-up assistance would be considered based on ongoing needs, ensuring that support remains continuous.
“Effective grassroots service requires proactive engagement, attentive listening and practical assistance.
“The welfare of many vulnerable individuals remained overlooked due to remote living conditions or sudden life changes.
“In this regard, political organisations have a responsibility to reach out and assist those in need,” said Chong.
He reaffirmed that SUPP Bau would continue to identify and support needy cases through regular visits and its monthly assistance mechanism, providing discreet and practical help while respecting the dignity of recipients.
Chong also called upon the public to show greater concern for vulnerable groups in the community, stressing that only through collective compassion and concrete action could a more caring and supportive Bau community be fostered.
