Three children aged 9 to 12 drown after falling into pond near Sibu Jaya flats

SIBU, Feb 4: Three children, aged between 9 and 12, tragically drowned in a pond near the Sibu Jaya flats this afternoon.

The Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded to the emergency at 4:03 pm, quickly dispatching a team of firefighters to the scene.

Upon arrival, they confirmed that the victims, two girls and one boy, had fallen into a pond approximately two metres deep.

Members of the public had already rescued the children to the pond’s edge before the fire crews arrived.

Despite swift efforts, all three were pronounced dead by paramedics from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The bodies have been handed over to the police for further investigation. — DayakDaily
