MIRI (Feb 1): Improvement works are currently underway at the Miri Airport waiting area, with around 150 new passenger seats replacing the old, worn-out ones.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Miri information chief Chaw Zhe Jian said he had followed up with the relevant authorities after the public raised concerns over the condition of the seats at the waiting area, which were not only worn but also unhygienic, affecting the city’s image.

“The new seats feature a cushion-free design, making them easier to clean and maintain.

“The remaining seats will be replaced in stages to ensure passenger services are not disrupted,” he said in a statement.

Chaw stressed that PKR Miri takes public feedback seriously, viewing it as a valid concern.

“We will continue to monitor the progress of the improvement works and ensure the public’s concerns are conveyed to the relevant authorities,” he added.
