A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing opium in Opar

BAU, 22 September: A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug abuse in a raid on a village house in Opar here this morning.

Chief of the Odor District Police, Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the raid was carried out at about 10:50 am by members of Narcotics Crime Investigation Division along with members of the Bau Regional Police Headquarters (IPD).

According to him, an investigation into the suspects found a straw basket containing crystal clusters suspected of sedation.

"The suspect was detained under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 to assist in an investigation.

"The results of the preliminary urine filtration test against the suspect were also positive for drugs and he was detained under Section 15 (a) (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," it said in a statement today.

Police have confirmed that action will be taken against any individuals involved in drug abuse.
