KUCHING, 24 September: Two new singers, Ary Hussin and Qal G, express their enthusiasm after first set foot in Sarawak to attend the 25th Music Industry Awards (AIM25).
The visit to Kenyalang Earth was a new experience for the two singers, each after being nominated in the Best New Artist category.
For Ary Hussin, 40, his first visit to Sarawak was an eagerly awaited experience, and he also plans to spend time exploring interesting places in Kuching besides attending the event.
"At my age, this is the first time (to come to Sarawak). First of all, I was really excited because I had asked some friends who have come here and there are a few places they suggested for me to go out", she said.
Ary said the nomination in AIM has been seen as a great grace, let alone facing strong competition from other candidates in that category.
"As a human being, I am very grateful. And when they are nominated, it is a great favor. Sometimes I don't know, the competition is too bad", he said.
He thinks that winning isn't the most important thing because he still wants to celebrate achievements with fellow fighters who are nominated.
"We came with a good intention to celebrate this award together. Even if I don't win, I will still support the friends who win. Let's celebrate together. We came here grateful enough", he said.
Meanwhile, Qal G or his real name Haiqal Naqib also shared the joy of visiting Sarawak for the first time in 29 years.
"I'm so excited because this is the first time I, 29 years old, have never been to Sarawak. So this is my first time in Sarawak. I can't wait to try my hand at it", she said.
Reviewing his nomination in the same category, Qal G described success in the top five as quite proud and a great achievement in his career.
"I even got the top five, and I'm so grateful. Whether we win or lose, that's behind the scenes because I feel proud to be nominated for this AIM", he said.
Qal G also acknowledged that all the candidates in the category were fiercely competitive, as each had experience in the music industry.
"I think everyone is screaming because they've all been in the music industry. So I feel very proud of myself to be in this Top 5", he said.
According to him, the nomination on the AIM stage also opened up a wider space for himself to be recognized in the local music industry.
