KUCHING, Sept. 24: Kuching-born singer Reza Shah sees her nomination in the top five of the Best New Artist category at the 25th Music Industry Awards (AIM25) as an opportunity to further develop her career and produce more work.

Reza said the nomination also instills enthusiasm to introduce herself more widely to fans through her new work.

"I hope this AIM becomes one of the great platforms for me to continue working on. I'm going to release more songs so people know me better", he said.

Reza also expressed excitement when she was chosen as one of the five finalists in the category, besides not expecting to compete with other new singers.

"Trouble and excitement are also unbelievable reasons to compete with them. I think it's kind of unthinkable to be a Top 5 finalist, and that feels speechless", she said.

Reza did not set too high a target for taking home the trophy, acknowledging that competition in the category was fierce, but retained little hope of creating a surprise on the AIM25 stage.

"I'm not for high expectations because I know my competitors can handle anything. If you want to say that little expectation is also, just put a little bit, maybe 10 percent", he said.

In the same development, Reza acknowledges that he still has plenty of room to develop his career since so far he has only had a few songs and hasn't produced works that actually trigger phenomena.

At the same time, Reza admitted to having been frustrated when his career development received little coverage from Sarawak's local media after being on the Peninsula for so long.

"Honestly, I'm bored because I've probably been very close to the peninsula for a long time and rarely get coverage from local media, my own hometown", she said.

However, he described the partnership on the matter as bringing positive developments when it came to the attention of Sarawak media ahead of his return to Kuching for AIM25.

"Thank God after I made that post, now I'm being interviewed by Sarawak media and I really appreciate it", he said.

According to Reza, he did not expect special services, instead simply wanted to be appreciated by the community and local media.

"I don't feel diva or entitled. I just want to be appreciated by the locals themselves", he said.
