KUCHING: Interhill Hospitality’s Chief Operating Officer, Eric Tan has been named ‘Owner of the Year’ at the prestigious Stelliers Asia 2026 Grand Awards.

The award, presented at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok on September 25, recognises Tan’s decade of leadership and contributions to Interhill Group’s hospitality division.

“This recognition reflects the commitment of our teams across Interhill Hospitality, as we grow while creating opportunities for our people,” he said.

Tan said this in a press statement on Wednesday (Oct. 7), adding that the group aimed to build a hospitality business trusted by employees, guests and communities.

He was among 25 hospitality professionals honoured during the ceremony, which celebrates outstanding hotel industry achievements across Asia and Greater China.

Established in 2014, Stelliers evaluates hospitality professionals based on their achievements, leadership and impact on properties, guests and surrounding communities.

Since becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2016, Tan has overseen strategic direction, operational performance, and long-term growth across Interhill Hospitality’s portfolio.

He currently oversees three Accor-branded hotels owned by Interhill Group, namely Pullman Kuching, Pullman Miri Waterfront and ibis Melaka.

Under his leadership, Interhill Hotel Management secured its first hotel management contract for an upscale resort development in Miri.

Through Interhill Food, Tan also spearheaded the opening of Faculty of Makan, the division’s first standalone food and beverage outlet.

These ventures expanded the group’s hospitality expertise into hotel management and dining, complementing its existing portfolio of properties across Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Tan has played an active role in the ongoing transformation of Pullman Kuching, strengthening its position within Kuching’s leisure and business events market.

“The hotel’s refreshed direction incorporates Sarawak-inspired elements, including rainforest textures, longhouse traditions and Gunung Mulu-inspired limestone pinnacles within its ballroom design.

“The dining outlets, Culina and Nu Er Hong, complement the experience, supported by predominantly local employees who help guests discover Sarawak,” he said.

Tan said Interhill Hospitality’s growth also supports Malaysia’s wider tourism ambitions through its participation in Visit Malaysia 2026-2027 initiatives.

“Malaysia’s diversity gives visitors a reason to come, while what they experience here gives them a reason to return,” he added.

He said Pullman Kuching aimed to encourage guests to explore Sarawak beyond the hotel, creating longer stays and stronger connections with local communities.
