Fishing boat gutted by fire in Semporna, no injuries reported

SEMPORNA (Jan 7): A fishing boat was damaged in a fire that broke out off Sri Gaya here this evening, prompting a swift response from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

Semporna Bomba station chief Akimullah Adan said a team of six firefighters was dispatched immediately after an emergency call was received at 5.27pm.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 6pm, preventing it from spreading further, and the operation was fully concluded at 7.32pm.

No injuries or other untoward incidents were reported, while investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
