PUTRAJAYA, 25 Sept: The Election Commission (EC) has confirmed that there is no proposal to add any portion of the Sarawak Parliamentary elections for the time being involving any electoral portions as reported by local newspapers referring to discussions on the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63).

The press secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the allegations in the report quoted "The Initial Confinement Proposal Document of Sarawak Electoral Division" which was reportedly shared with the newspaper.

"SPR refers to newspaper reports citing allegations based on the Provincial Proposals Document of Sarawak Primary Electoral Division that the total number of parliamentary elections in Sarawak will increase to a certain amount.

"For the information, only the results of the Seventh Sarawak State Confined Survey (KSP) have been prepared by SPR and are now being officially exhibited to the public throughout this month", he said in a statement today.

Thus, Khairul Shahril said SPR urged the press to always refer to true and accurate information about KSP on the portal or official statement issued by SPR.

Malay language newspapers previously reported that the KSP constituency for Sarawak is expected to see an increase of 15 parliamentary seats, increasing the total number of state seats from 31 to 46. -TVS
