KUCHING, Sept. 28: The establishment of Prodigy Music Centre over the past 16 years has been seen as giving children from low-income families (B40) access to music education in order to develop their talents.
Sarawak Minister of Women, Child Development and Community Welfare, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the initiative allows children who may not previously have had the opportunity to get a music education, also enjoy similar facilities and opportunities.
He said the efforts made by Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Prodigy Music Centre, Sharnaz Saberi are in line with the aspiration of the Government of Sarawak to develop a more inclusive society by ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has an opportunity to develop their talent potential.
"The establishment of the Prodigy Music Centre provides opportunities for underprivileged children, particularly from B40 families, to get a music education and develop their talents. This is indeed a huge contribution to the community, especially when our government has put so much emphasis on transportation", he said.
He said this in his speech at the Prodigy 16th Anniversary Recital and Award Ceremony-SYMPHONY No. The 16th took place at a prestigious hotel here last night.
According to him, access to music education not only gives children space to learn new skills, but also opens up opportunities for them to identify and develop their talents.
He said that every child has their own abilities, interests and aspirations that need to be given space to explore, cultivate and appreciate.
He also described Prodigy's existence as a contribution to the community because it opens up opportunities for those with limited access to participate in music education.
Obviously, such efforts are essential in ensuring that talent development opportunities aren't just focused on children from certain access and privilege groups -- TVS.
