Proton X50 destroyed in a fire at Semariang

A Proton X50 car destroyed in a fire at Lorong Ceria, Borneo's Semariang Garden here, last night.

According to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Service (JBPM) Sarawak's Operations Movement Centre (PGO), it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 10:09 pm.

"A team from Petra Jaya Bombing and Rescue Hall (BBP) arrived on site at 10.27 pm with a force of 11 members using an FRT machine and an Urvan vehicle.

"Operation Commander, PBK I Ibrahim Assan, announced the fire involving a Proton X50 placed on the side of the road", the statement said.

The fire brigade conducted an extinguishing operation using a single auxiliary line starting before the fire was fully extinguished at 10:45 p.m.

No casualties were reported involved in the incident. The operation was terminated at 10:50 p.m. after the team made sure that conditions on site were safe and there was no risk of a recurring fire.

The cause of the fire and total damage are still under investigation.
