KUCHING, Sept. 25: PTS 062 Parantis Program becomes a platform to empower Dayak women's leadership and rooted leaders through the development of knowledge, confidence and practical leadership skills.
Director of the PTS 062, Dr Florince Christy said that the program not only trains women in leadership, but also builds courage to lead and contribute to the community.
She said women play an important role in raising families, educating generations, preserving culture and heritage and driving economies, but still need space, opportunities, networks and support to grow as leaders.
"This forum is a platform for us to acquire knowledge, hone leadership skills so we can build networks and platforms to share experiences with each other but I want us to go beyond that because for me empowerment starts with yourself because it shouldn't end on its own.
"We build self-confidence, then we use that confidence to elevate and empower the other women we learn from, then we share, we grow and we advance together", she said.
She said this while addressing the Women's Leadership Program and Network Roots Leaders in Care Management, Decision Making and Sustainable Development (PTS 062) in Kuching, today.
According to Florince, the program's return on investment is to see more Dayak women come forward, engage in community leadership, take responsibility and be willing to contribute to decision-making.
He said the participants who chose the leadership path had the potential to open up more space for Dayak women to engage in politics, corporate, public service, NGOs, communities and various other sectors.
A total of 43 participants participated in the PTS 062 Parade from various backgrounds, including Chief of Staff, Community Leaders, Council Members, political activists, teachers, nurses, government officials as well as NGO and community leaders.
Participants also included women with achievements in various fields, including Malaysia's first female commercial helicopter pilot and Miss Grand Malaysia.
All participants came from different areas of Sarawak, including Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu and Ba'Kelalan. -TVS
