Sarawak's budget was the focus before DUN disbanded

KUCHING, 7 Oct: The session of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) from 12 to 21 October this year, including the presentation of the Sarawak Budget, was in focus before the dissolution of DUN.

Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the conference is important as it involves presentation of state budget after national budget presentation.

"From 12 October to 21 October, the session of this House is very important because it includes the presentation of Sarawak's budget.

She said this when she met after the closing ceremony of Sarawak Women of Tomorrow (SWOT) 2026 here today.

Regarding the dissolution of DUN, Abdul Karim stressed that it is a prerogative of Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinji Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He said if the DUN dissolves on its own without the Prime Minister being dissolved, the Election Commission (EC) should hold elections within 60 days.

"If it dissolves on its own without dissolving the Premier, SPR should hold elections within 60 days", he said.
