KUCHING: All schools and educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Sarawak will operate as usual on Thursday (Oct 15).
In a statement today (Oct 14), the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS) said any changes to the operating status would be announced from time to time.
However, schools and educational institutions in areas where the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading exceeds 100 must suspend all outdoor activities involving pupils and students.
JPNS also encouraged pupils and students attending school to wear face masks as a health precaution amid the current haze conditions.
“Parents and guardians are allowed not to send their children to school if they have concerns about their children’s health due to the haze that continues to affect several locations in Sarawak,” the statement said.
Parents and guardians are required to inform the respective schools if they decide to keep their children at home.
JPNS said it place great importance on the health, safety and well-being of all its personnel.
