KUCHING, Sept 25: A total of 14 nominations were received for Gema Bumantara's album at the 25th Music Industry Awards (AIM25) in recognition of Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza's continued efforts to fight traditional music.
She said the achievement was significant because producing an album based on traditional music in today's musical landscape is not easy.
He said that Gema Bumantara was carefully produced through the cooperation of a line of experienced art activists, thus making the nomination an honour not only for himself but also for the entire team concerned.
"I am grateful for getting the award by reaching the final stage of nomination through Gema Bumantara's album.
"It's a very good achievement for me because producing traditional albums at this time is challenging", he said when meeting TVS after arriving at Kuching International Airport, here today.
Siti Nurhaliza said that the challenge of producing traditional works should not weaken the spirit of art activists, but rather be an incentive to continue defending and introducing the genre to new generations.
He also called on young artists with the advantage of delivering traditional rhythmic songs to play a role in ensuring that music continues to gain a place in the industry.
"Traditional we have to defend and fight for. We also need to always inspire other artists, especially young artists who have the advantage of delivering traditional rhythmic songs", he said.
In related developments, Siti Nurhaliza is now focusing on the final preparations for the AIM25 performance, in addition to making preparations for Gema Bumantara concert scheduled for next October.
He said he also took a moment's rest after arriving in Sarawak before continuing his commitments related to AIM25.
