The 2026 Saribas Cup is a community gathering

DEBAK, Sept. 27: The 9 A-Side Saribas Cup 2026 Football Tournament is among the platforms to spread sports culture and strengthen connections amongst local communities in the Saribas area.

Deputy Minister of Women, Children and Community Development and Welfare of Sarawak who is also a Member of the National Assembly (ADUN) Saribas, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam said that such tournaments not only provide opportunities for players to develop talent in the sport of football, but can strengthen the spirit of sportsmanship and community unity.

"Matches like the Saribas Cup not only serve as a field for youngsters to showcase their talent in football, but also strengthen community relations.

"We want sports activities to continue to be strengthened in the Saribas area because sport is able to form an active, disciplined and team-based young generation.

"I hope that all the participating teams can show a high spirit of enthusiasm and make this tournament a platform to build friendship and strengthen unity", he said.

He said so as he was finishing the football kick-off of the 2026 9-A-Side Saribas Cup Football Championship at Padang Riveria Debak, last night.

He also hoped that tournaments like Saribas Cup could be continued in the future with more teams from surrounding areas participating.

He said that continuous efforts in providing a platform for sports at the root level are essential to attract new talent and encourage communities to adopt active lifestyles.

The 2026 Saribas Cup was held at Padang Riveria Debak with teams competing in a nine-way format.
