KUCHING, 7 Oct: Round-capital and cash flow challenges between the issues are focused through Sarawak's Bumiputera Contractor Marking Program 2026 which provides financing access as well as opportunities to build business networks for Bumiputera contractors in the state.

Deputy President of the Malaysian Contractors Association (MCA) Sarawak, Datuk Ismail Suut, said the program provides space for contractors to obtain financial information and support, as well as interact directly with industry players and financial institutions.

"The Sarawak Bumiputera Contractor Empowerment Programme 2026 jointly organised by the Sarawak PMC and TERAJU Malaysia is expected to be continued from time to time for the benefit of all Bumiputera contractors in Sarawak.

"I hope that all the contractors present can take the opportunity to interact with industry players as well as financial parties in order to benefit from this program", he said during a media briefing on the programme here, today.

The inaugural programme was held in Kuching with the participation of about 150 companies from Bumiputera Sarawak and also provided business partnership sessions as well as meetings with industry players and financial institutions including Affin Bank, Agrobank, MIDF, MicroLEAP, Nusa Capital and Capbay.

According to Ismail, access to round-the-clock capital financing is important in helping contractors maintain cash flow, especially when having to bear the operating and project implementation costs beforehand while waiting for payment from clients.

He hoped that such programs could be implemented periodically and extended to other areas including Miri, Bintulu, Limbang and Lawas.

"This step could provide more opportunities for Bumiputera Sarawak contractors to access financing, build strategic networks and expand their operations", he said.
