BINTULU, 27 Sept: The Bintulu Development Board (BDA) in collaboration with Sarawak Waste Management (SWM) Sdn Bhd, SD Guthrie International and Green Town launched the first Other Household Waste Collection Campaign (OHW) in Bintulu.
The campaign was launched in conjunction with Malaysia Cleanup Day 2026 which took place at the Civic Centre here yesterday.
BDA Deputy General Manager, Abdul Rahim Abdullah said that cooperation of all parties is important in improving responsible waste management practices to create a cleaner, healthier and sustainable Bintulu.
"Through the campaign, the public has an opportunity to exchange e-waste and cooking oil used for cash.
"OHW items weighing less than three kilograms can be shipped free for safe disposal", he said.
He said that the involvement of Bintulu community in the activities contributed to the target of 200,000 people participation for Malaysia Laci Day 2026 celebration at national level.
The public is also encouraged to properly implement waste isolation and together take care of the environment to support efforts to make Bintulu a cleaner, sustainable and low-carbon city. - TVS
