KUCHING, 25 September: 300 students of Bako National High School (SMK) participated in the Malaysian Club's First Class X Program held at the school today.

The programme organised by the Malaysian Publication Department (JaPen) of Sarawak State aims to spread the spirit of patriotism and raise awareness among students about the importance of unity, nationhood and responsibility as Malaysians.

The program was attended by Kuching Regional Information Officer, Pauline Sating, Head of SMK Bako, Mohd Firdaus Abdullah and Assistant Director of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Kuching Branch, Nurul Ain Amalina Jamain.

Among the main exhibitions are performances by Sarawak State's Pentarama JaPen artists highlighting songs as well as performances with patriotic and nationalistic themes.

The exhibition received an encouraging reception from the students thus creating a cheerful and interactive atmosphere throughout the program.

In addition, students also participated in the State Quiz which tested their knowledge of Malaysia, history, Rukun Nasional, unity and values of patriotism.

The programme also features lectures from MCMC Kuching Branch which give students an exposure to the efficient use of digital technology and media, as well as security aspects in the cyber world.

The approach through a combination of entertainment presentations, quizzes and lectures is seen to make the delivery of state messages more relaxed, attractive and close to students.

The Malaysian X Club Foundation Programme is expected to be a continuing platform in shaping young generations who have an identity, respect the diversity of society and cherish the values of unity and love for the country.

Such initiatives also reflect the role of JaPen in reaching out to society, especially young people, through creative and effective communication approaches for conveying a state message. - TVS
