BINTULU, June 10: A fire involving a boiler machine at a timber factory along Jalan Bintulu-Sibu was successfully brought under control by firefighters this morning, with no injuries reported.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), an emergency call was received at 10.15am regarding the incident.

A team from the Bintulu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Bintulu), led by operations commander PBK II Mohd Syukri Abdullah, was dispatched to the scene and arrived at 10.33am.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that a boiler machine located outside the factory building was on fire.

The fire was brought under control at 11.10am and fully extinguished shortly thereafter.

Firefighters carried out extinguishing operations using foam, a 200-foot hose line, water from the fire engine’s tank, and the vehicle-mounted pump system.

Following the firefighting operation, the team conducted monitoring to ensure the area was safe and that no remaining hotspots or ignition sources could trigger a recurrence of the fire.

The operation concluded at 11.53am.

A total of seven firefighters, assisted by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, were involved in the operation.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately known. — DayakDaily
