SARAWAK has allocated RM106 million to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to implement 10 projects involving 906 affordable housing units across six divisions.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the units will be developed under the Skim Pembesaran Kampung and Skim Penempatan Semula programmes in Kuching, Samarahan, Betong, Sibu, Mukah and Limbang.

“Complementing these efforts, the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) will continue to drive socio-economic transformation through the implementation of urban renewal projects,” he said when tabling the Supply (2027) Bill, 2026 at the State Legislative Assembly today.

With an estimated ceiling of RM518.4 million, LCDA will implement 1,410 housing units under urban renewal, Skim Pembesaran Kampung, Rural Growth Centre and New Township projects across Kuching, Samarahan, Betong, Sibu, Kapit, Miri and Lawas.

A total of RM213.35 million has been set aside for the projects.

Among those approved for implementation next year are Rumah Spektra Permata projects in Lundu (RM15 million), Spaoh Baru (RM12 million), Tabuan Melayu (RM11.7 million) and Kampung Sambir (RM10 million).

Other projects include the Darul Hana Redevelopment Project (RM25 million), Kemuyang Development (RM20 million), Pasir Panjang Development (RM15 million), Sebuyau New Township (RM18 million) and Skim Pembesaran Kampung Long Tuan in Lawas (RM10 million).

Abang Johari said the state will also continue several schemes to ease home ownership, repair and rental costs.

First-time homebuyers from eligible B40 and M40 households will continue to receive RM10,000 under the Housing Deposit and Repayment Assistance Scheme.

The Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme will provide RM200 per month to households earning RM5,504 and below, with coverage expanded to more districts.

“With the total fund available of RM48 million, the scheme is expected to benefit 20,000 households,” he said.

The Government will also allocate RM40 million for affordable home financing through Mutiara Mortgage and Credit, while another RM65 million will go towards the House Repair Programme under MRP-PPRMS to assist needy households.
