KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27: Nang Ori's participation in the International Halal Exhibition Malaysia (MIHAS) was used as a platform to expand the market of Sarawak pepper-based products to international markets.
Director of Affairs Nang Ori, Awaeang Kwasin said that MIHAS is also an important platform for promoting Malaysian products, especially Sarawak products, to international markets.
"Sarawak pepper is already known worldwide for being among the best peppers in the world, but there are no brands from Sarawak yet.
"So, we are among the brands from Sarawak and Malaysia who are fighting for local pepper products to be in the international market", he told TVS when they met at MIHAS 2026, here recently.
According to him, the platform also gives his party an opportunity to meet international buyers, including South Korea, Japan, Brunei, Singapore and the United States to expand Sarawak's product market.
"I did not miss to join MIHAS because here we can meet not only buyers from Malaysia, but also buyers from all over the world.
"For example, this time we had the opportunity to meet with buyers from South Korea, Japan, Brunei and Singapore who came back, and not only for new business but also asked us to add product variations (SKUs)", he said.
Awaeang said that Nang Ori is now not only focusing on Sarawak pepper-based products, but also highlighting innovative products such as black pepper gel, black pepper coffee and black pepper tea.
He added that his fifth participation in MIHAS this year also saw Nang Ori bring Sarawak PMKS products like Borco, MyD and Kina Karar as an effort to introduce more Sarawak products to the global market.
"This year, our goal is not only to bring Nang Ori products, but also to bring friendly products from Sarawak to be introduced and brought together to explore world markets", he said. - TVS
