MIRI: A Range Rover’s engine compartment was destroyed in an early-morning fire outside SMK Chung Hua along Jalan Brighton here early today.
No casualties were reported.
The Miri Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 1.10am and arrived at the scene three minutes later.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 1.27am using a hose reel supplied by the fire engine’s water tank.
They subsequently carried out overhaul operations to eliminate any remaining hotspots and prevent the fire from reigniting.
The operation ended at 1.50am after the team confirmed that the scene was safe.
Seven firefighters were deployed, supported by one fire engine and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle. Police personnel were also present.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses remain under investigation.
