KUCHING, 28 September: Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) through FALCON Unit conducts Compliance Ops through patrol and monitoring around Kuching City to improve compliance of road users with safety regulations.
Today's operation detected a number of errors, including not wearing seat belts while driving and using cell phones while driving.
According to the statement of JPJ Sarawak, all offences detected have been taken in accordance with the provisions of the law in force.
"JPJ Sarawak takes seriously the misuse of mobile phones while driving and failure to wear seat belts as both can increase the risk of accidents as well as endanger drivers and other road users.
"In this regard, all drivers are advised to give full focus when driving, not use mobile phones and ensure that the seat belt is worn before starting the journey", the statement said.
JPJ Sarawak will continue to carry out continuous patrol, monitoring and enforcement to increase awareness and compliance with road rules.
The measure also aims to ensure that the safety aspect is always given priority by all road users. -TVS
